Description

The Mechanical Assistant/Project Engineer will create, develop and finalise mechanical engineering services advice and designs as well as monitoring site installation works, joining our Building Services section to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors.

The chosen candidate will have the ability to operate as part of a project team, within appropriate authority levels and will be expected to attend project team meetings with clients and other members of the professional staff.  The candidate will be well motivated, innovative and career minded.

Qualifications required:-

MCIBSE/MIMechE Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services and ideally an accredited degree to aid in the process of working towards Chartered Status (CEng).

A good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, EDSL Tas and AutoCAD software is required.  The ideal candidate will also have the ability to utilise Autodesk MEP Revit with an appreciation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Amtech NES Specification Writing software.  

Role:-

The successful candidate will work within multi-discipline design teams with the Senior Engineer or Associate Director on major projects. As the role develops they will be responsible for the project management of complex projects for clients in the automotive, industrial, education, leisure, healthcare, residential and public Sectors. This will include some client liaison as well as design and interface with project teams.
 

Experience required:-

The candidate will have some experience across the breadth of Mechanical Building Services such as:-

  • Above ground drainage systems
  • Hot and cold water systems
  • Heating systems
  • Ventilation systems
  • Comfort cooling systems
  • Automatic control systems

Main responsibilities:-

· Site surveys and inspections

  Mechanical building services engineering design to company standards
· Carrying out design calculations
· Preparing drawings for drafting by others

  Preparing technical specifications
· Maintaining records and archives to company standards
· Manage own workload and some management of graduate and junior members of staff
