- Purpose of the Role
Working as part of the pre-sales team, assist in the sales process by preparing quotations and estimates from specifications received from Business Development Managers/Sales Director in a timely and accurate manner. This post will be 80% office based with a requirement to visit site and/or client offices from time to time.
Key Deliverables
•Preparation of quotations and estimates from specifications generated from a variety of sources including but not limited to Business Development Managers/Director for mechanical, electrical and building works and for projects varying from small product sales to full turnkey (refurb and new build) projects
•Prepare and progress subcontractor and equipment enquirys looking for ‘Best Value’ and cost downs where this would not affect the quality / safety of the project
•Ensure that all estimates are comprehensive and include all necessary elements including time, material, hire of machinery, sub-contract costs and labour are included in the estimates
•Site visits and visits to client site to clarify site details and establish any potential risk to project delivery
•Ensure that any known or reasonably expected risks are factored into the estimates
•Adjust original estimates in the light of changing circumstances
•Ensure that equipment hire is clearly identified, costed and included in estimates
•Protection and monitoring of project margins by proactively reporting deviations from estimate to Project Team
•Contribute to the quality submission of projects where appropriate
•And any other reasonable activity requested by Line Manager or Directors
Need to know
•Understand the NHS procurement pathway
•Understand & be able to work within the NHS procurement cycle
•Mechanical / Electrical / Building contracting background would be an advantage
•Ability to understand & read construction & engineering diagrams
•Have a minimum education of HNC or experience gained in a similar environment.
•Knowledge of the Company products
•Fundamentals of conceptual selling

•Maintain accurate and complete records following the HAT file structure and IT protocols
•Conduct informal risk assessments and incorporate these into estimating activity
•Create BOMS and schedules
