Their Manchester office is growing – and they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be at the forefront of project delivery and client relationships in Manchester.
The growth strategy for their Manchester office has been with the specific intention of strengthening our MEP and Structures delivery capability in the North West and Midlands regions, working closely with the Leeds office to continue to deliver projects such as One Angel Square, the Library of Birmingham, and First Street New Arts Centre. You will work closely with clients, architects and other Company Engineers as part of a dedicated and skilled team.
Responsibilities:
• Undertake the role of Project Leader or Lead mechanical engineer.
• Work competently on an independent basis, as well as collaborating within the design team and leading the project team.
• Communicate directly with external stakeholders.
• Prepare technical proposals for new work.
• Manage project finance, monitor scope, ensure quality and manage deliverables.
• Manage project resourcing including recognising the need for outsourcing where appropriate.
• Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
• Prepare Technical Specifications.
• Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that Company policy is in keeping with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice.

Essential Experience
• Extensive experience of mechanical design engineering in the buildings sector, gained from a broad range of projects and sectors.
• Some experience of outward facing role already and confident with clients and collaborators.
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
• Willing to network and build relationships
• Awareness of Amtech and Dialux software
• Excel (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
• The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
• Chartered membership of a professional institution preferred but not essential.
• Awareness of AutoCAD preferred, Revit highly desirable.
Qualifications:
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer or equivalent.
• Bachelors degree (BEng) / BSc or Masters degree (MEng) / MSc that meets the engineering academic requirements for chartership.
Additional requirements:
• Mobility to travel, particularly to the Leeds office
