- Our client is looking for 2 full time Safe Case Writers for a 12 month contract
Up to £65ph
Responsibility
The purpose of the post is to write Safety Cases. The Job Holder will be responsible for producing nuclear safety cases, in accordance with organisational procedures, which are fit for purpose and which can be implemented.
Qualifications
Degree in Science/Engineering/Technology or equivalent qualification plus experience
Experience: 2 years Plant and Industrial
1 year Hazard/Risk Assessment
1 year Safety Case Production
Delivery
Liaise with stakeholders involved with the safety case
Obtain contextual information for nuclear safety cases
Identify safety hazards by a range of complementary techniques
Develop safety arguments for use in nuclear safety cases
Write clear and concise arguments and technical content to form a ‘fit for purpose’ safety case
Produce evidence for nuclear safety cases
Verify evidence for use in ‘fit for purpose’ nuclear safety cases
Provide risk assessments including identification of engineering and administrative controls from the safety case which can be implemented within the plant
Support Due Process requirements of nuclear safety cases
Support through-life safety issues, including Periodic Review, Optioneering Reviews and Plant Modifications
Provide information and advice on nuclear safety cases
The Job Holder may:Plan and co-ordinate the preparation of nuclear safety cases
Assist the Safety Case Officer to establish the scope and strategy for the production/ development of nuclear safety cases
- Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post
Understand and apply the relevant techniques to assist in the investigation of accidents
- Be able to identify the relevant legal, regulatory, safety, quality and environmental constraints for inclusion
- Have a basic understanding and ability to apply project management and control skills and tools
- Specify, develop and use more sophisticated inspection, control plans and test techniques
- Have a detailed knowledge of key legislative issues, regulatory requirements and legislating bodies within a specified area of work
- Be able to give general advice on a limited range of safety and occupational health matters
- Understand and promote best practice in all elements of safety management at a site or department level to ensure learning from experience
- Understand how their interpersonal relationships and dealings with stakeholders will cause them to react
- Be able to assimilate new information and crafts communication of high standard and accuracy
- Have a basic awareness of the environmental impact of local activities
- Demonstrate a general knowledge and understanding of safety cases and the relevant legislation
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of criticality safety
- Be able to identify faults in safety system and define root causes of incidents
- Be able to solve problems independently using the appropriate tools for the job, identifies alternative techniques
- Have a broad knowledge of nuclear safety principles, security, radiological protection, criticality safety and nuclear emergency procedures
