We have a requirement in our Altrincham office for a Design Manager; you will be from a civil and structural background, ideally from a nuclear, power or similar background.
Candidate Specification
The focus of the role is carrying out feasibility works, detailed design, and assessments depending upon project requirements, as an engineer the key duties in the role will include:
•Responsible for delivering detailed design work and knowledgeable in the environmental aspects/impacts of civil/structural design
•Carry out bid preparation, planning, budgeting, the control of internal resources and sub-contractors
•Provide capabilities in analysis of sub and/or super structure engineering
•Develop, maintain and monitor programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects
•Carry out design the review of epc contractors’ submissions relating to client requirements
•Offer consultative approach to clients to ensure best solution is offered to meet client needs
•Responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders
•Ensure client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with clients
•Advise on suitable specialist software relevant to projects and implementing feedback from colleagues on systems
•Manage time so that balance is achieved between team support, technical work and business development
•Involved in the design of engineering works in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork
•Prepare, in English, of specifications and minimum functional specifications for the civil/structural engineering aspects of power projects
•Demonstrate technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge and leadership
•Provide support to project director, monitor engineers detailed design work and audit where necessary
The ideal candidate will be a project manager, preferably with an appropriate professional qualification or studying towards (APM) or similar, with extensive experience in the defence or nuclear industry. You will demonstrate project management experience including design, project execution and delivery. You will have excellent communication and leadership skills. Candidates from a wide range of industries will be acceptable; nuclear, including power, heavy industry (e.g. steel), fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology. |
