Our client are currently looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer to be based in there Manchester office. You will ideally be chartered with strong building services experience.
Objectives:
- To manage, motivate and inspire a multi-disciplined team to deliver quality design projects to the standards expected from an internationally recognised group.
- To maintain and enhance the company’s standing and reputation within existing market sectors, particularly Education.
- To evolve the role eventually becoming a key management figure with responsibility for setting, and implementing, the future development of the Business.
- To enhance the “hands-on”, “can do” philosophy of the group.
- To develop the company’s leading edge technical capability, and assist in the development of a culture of continuous improvement.
- To become accepted by the team as a focus for design and delivery of technically challenging projects.
Responsibilities & Duties :
- Carry forward the company philosophy both inside and outside the office.
- Take responsibility for the technical, contractual and administrative aspects of projects to ensure highest standards of execution. You will be required to work in close collaboration with clients and other professions, both when confirming the brief and on a day-to-day basis, to the completion of the project.
- Understand both the local and wider market.
- Overall responsibility for timely project completion.
- Development of concept/scheme to detail design.
- Joint responsibility with other principals for staff allocation within the teams. Assessment of manpower requirements and work programme.
Key Duties:
Technical
- Translate conceptual design sympathetically with the building’s architectural and functional requirements, and develop the scheme to ensure overall objectives are met.
- Control the technical design and cost elements (both design fee and construction value) in the project in the manner which will ensure that all work is done within the time allocated to it, to the best engineering standards, and in accordance with quality control procedures.
- Possess natural design flair and confidence, encouraging other team members to think laterally in order to provide clients with exceptional, innovative design solutions.
- Have the skill to convert conceptual thinking into developed design and construction documentation within the context of financial and programme parameters.
- Have the ability to work under pressure whilst monitoring goals, communicating and managing.
- Have an awareness of the total design and delivery process, recognising the need for integrated information delivery and high quality aspirations for the out turn product.
- Keep up to date with innovations in building design and building services technology, including developments in plant and equipment, control systems, energy efficiency and regulations of authorities.
Management
- Be proactive in blending the skills of individuals into a team and empowering a team approach to project delivery.
Staff & Planning
- Ensure that your staff have a full understanding of what they are required to do in relation to any particular job brief. Maintain visible interest and enthusiasm for all projects, inspiring teams to produce at their best.
- Work with other design team/client groups and ensure the translation of their needs into the M&E design team and convey our needs to them.
- Control design change whether from the client, construction team and/or the client.
- In liaison with others, ensure that project design teams work to an agreed work schedule and that there workloads are handled effectively.
- Ensure profitability and efficiency by effective management of the work of the team.
- Look ahead strategically, anticipate problems areas, analise progress, pre-empting and where possible averting potential difficulties.
