Qualification/Experience
Degree in Mechanical / Materials or Chemical Engineering
At least 2-4 years either in construction, project, and maintenance or inspection experiences in petrochemical industry with at least 2 years’ experience in static equipment inspection.
Job Purpose
The Inspection Engineer is accountable for scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, and documenting the inspection work execution either by in-house manpower, third party manpower and specialists to ensure effective utilization of resources, cost effective inspection methodologies which yields accurate and reliable results inclusive of inspection technology assessment and customization either in failure prevention, risk minimization or failure documentation in achieving high equipment technical integrity, reliability and availability by providing inspection services based on sound/ recognized engineering standards, design, best practices and fulfilling relevant code and statutory requirements to ensure optimum, safe and reliable plant either during normal operation and plant shutdown / turnaround..
Job Accountabilities

Plan, control, and monitor turnaround inspection execution activities and documentation during turnaround to meet statutory requirement and turnaround schedule.

Develop and manage timely implementation of inspection monitoring program (Risk Based Inspection), prioritize inspection activities based on availability of resources and operational requirements, interpret and validate inspection results, manage any back logs and advise remedial action.

Plan and prepare necessary contracting strategy and scope of works, plan and control contractual schedule, external inspection specialist activities, and specialists work and HSE performance. i.e. Inspection specialists, Inspection equipment specialist to ensure compliance with contract specification in achieving plant integrity and reliability.

Job Description
Special Aspect/Major Challenges:
- The incumbent need to explore the fit for purpose inspection and monitoring technique suited for the various damage mechanism and multiple degradation modes in the said process environment such as SCC, Hydrogen attack, creeps etc to ensure safe continued operation.
- Appraisal of plant equipment reliability requires multi discipline knowledge. The incumbent has to keep abreast with other plant problems locally or internationally by maintaining a network of contact to be used as reference in the management of equipment.
- Plant problem or any equipment problem are normally complex in nature, and may not have precedent as some part of the plant is actually prototype of a system i.e. MHI CO2 recovery unit (PCO2). The incumbent must be responsive to plant need to provide immediate services during emergencies and he may be required to work extended hours in very stressful condition.
