Our client is a Civil Engineering Consultancy are seeking to recruit Engineering Technicians for their Bournemouth office with the prospect of the successful candidate becoming more qualified in due course as appropriate. T
he vacancies have arisen as a result of planned growth and the ideal candidate would be assisted with working towards gaining industry qualifications and ultimately professional membership of an appropriate institution. Day release student placements considered.The successful candidate will need to have a full UK driving licence in addition to good demonstrable PC experience with preferably knowledge of AutoCAD and other industry standard design related software.
You will have excellent communication skills, be ambitious with a desire to progress your career. They provide excellent ongoing training opportunities and a negotiable salary package depending on the candidate’s level of experience and ability, but likely to be in the region of £14,000 - £20,000 p.a.
The Bournemouth design office currently has a turnover of approximately £900K and employs 11 technical staff for which the day to day management lies with hands on Directors. Typical projects range in value from £1K to £500K in capital value and the candidate will need to able to assist with the different engineering requirements required for a variety of projects including site surveys and working away from Dorset for part or whole weeks at a time.
Key responsibilities / duties include:
• Responsible for undertaking supervised design on a wide variety of projects
• Able to assist the project manager on various aspects of projects
• Liaise with clients, other professional teams and disciplines on relevant aspects of projects
• Undertaking own self development and promoting CPD activities
• Support the Office Director in managing the team’s workloadDesired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic team player, who is interested in attaining a suitable and relevant Civil Engineering qualification, minimum experience starting at 0-3 years post full-time education work experience, but extending to experienced technicians with several years relevant experience.
The ideal candidates must:
• Have experience in infrastructure design; drainage; roads and streets, utilities etc.
• Be keen to work in a team environment and developing the work of others.
• Have knowledge AutoCAD 2D and preferably other industry standard software
• Have excellent communication and written skills
• Be competent with the use of Microsoft Office programmes
