We have a client ased in Birmingham who is currently looking for a Civil Engineer Cad Technician to join them on a permnent basis
ABOUT THE ROLEThe UK Infrastructure Team of our client an international engineering consultancy firm requires an experienced and skilled Civil Engineering CAD Technician to join their growing team of design professionals.This is a collaborative role, requiring close working with the infrastructure team whilst being responsible for developing and implementing CAD technologies, standards and solutions.Their portfolio includes numerous high-profile clients, so if you want to expand your engineering experience and abilities, this position could be the perfect fit for you.The main focus of the Infrastructure Team is projects in metro, airport, rail and highways but they also work with their other multidisciplinary teams across the UK to deliver other projects.Flexibility and the right attitude towards this style of working are key characteristics that they will be looking for.To achieve this, an availability to travel for work, including occasional overnight stays is necessaryDUTIESThe principal duty of the role will be working as part of the engineering team to produce general arrangement and detail drawings for infrastructure projects.This may include metro systems, airside improvement works, highway detailing, drainage design and so on.This will be achieved by using industry standard software packages such as AutoCAD, possibly developing on to other engineering design packages.Support of Junior Technicians, when necessary, is required. Knowledge of drawing construction details would be an advantage but not essential.Liaising with Clients and other offices to produce integrated works packages to programme and within budget. Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Line Manager or any other member of the Senior Management Team.ESSENTIAL CRITERIAExperience of civil and infrastructure engineering works and the production of high quality engineering drawings and reports.Relevant experience working within the engineering market of the UK.Competent user of AutoCAD.Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical features of a design to non-technical project members and clients. High level proficiency in English language required.Professional presentation, self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to build rapport with other members of the team and clients.Ability to work individually as well as being a key part of the local team, plus the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team spread across multiple offices, both nationally and internationally.Desire to continue professional and technical development.Competent user of Microsoft Office products.Available to travel for work, including occasional overnight stays.DESIRABLE CRITERIAKnowledge of relevant design codes and applicable regulations.Qualification in relevant engineering subject (NVQ, HNC, HND, etc.)Experience of implementing the designer’s requirements to comply with CDM Regulations.Grade relevant membership of a professional organisation (ICE, CIHT, etc.)Other software or design skills relevant to the post.This could include software packages such as Civil 3D, OpenRoad, MX, PDS, etc. Knowledge/experience of basic drainage design
